As part of our commitment to building a sustainable, resilient and responsible supply chain, we are asking suppliers to complete this maturity assessment against the key themes contained within the SSEN Distribution Sustainable Supplier Code. The Code sets out our expectations across areas including carbon, energy, waste, water, biodiversity, environmental management, social value, responsible sourcing, modern slavery and living wage commitments.

We encourage all suppliers to complete this assessment, including those who have already signed up to the Sustainable Supplier Code. Participation is essential in helping us establish a baseline understanding of sustainability maturity across our supply chain, benchmark progress against the Code's expectations, and identify where additional support, guidance and collaboration opportunities may be beneficial. The assessment is not a compliance exercise; it is intended to help us better understand where suppliers are on their sustainability journey and how we can work together to drive continuous improvement.

The purpose of this assessment is to:

  • Understand the current sustainability maturity of our supply chain.
  • Identify areas where suppliers are already demonstrating leading practices.
  • Highlight opportunities for collaboration, support and continuous improvement.
  • Track progress against the ambitions and targets set out within the Sustainable Supplier Code.
  • Help ensure our supply chain is prepared to meet future sustainability, regulatory and customer requirements.

This assessment is not intended to be an audit or compliance exercise. We recognise that suppliers are at different stages of their sustainability journey and are seeking an honest assessment of current maturity. The information gathered will help us develop targeted engagement, share best practice and work collaboratively with suppliers to improve sustainability outcomes across our supply chain.

For each topic area, please select the option that best reflects your organisation's current position:

  • No Formal Approach – No formal policy, strategy or targets currently in place.
  • Approach Under Development – Policy or strategy is being developed or implemented.
  • Formal Approach in Place – Formal policy is in place, with defined targets and progress monitoring in place.

Thank you for supporting SSEN Distribution's sustainability ambitions and helping us create a more sustainable supply chain.
