We would like to invite you to join our stakeholder webinar on Storm Resilience and Prolonged Power Cuts on Tuesday 15 September, 2:00pm to 3:30pm

As we begin planning for ED3 (2028-2033), the framework that will shape electricity distribution network investment and priorities for the next price control period, we are seeking stakeholder views to help inform our approach to resilience, community support, and preparedness for future severe weather events.

Severe storms and prolonged power outages can have significant impacts on communities, particularly customers in vulnerable situations and those who rely on critical infrastructure and services. We recognise the vital role played by local resilience partners, community organisations and stakeholders in supporting communities before, during and after storm events. Through this discussion, we want to better understand experiences from recent storms, identify what is working well, explore where current arrangements could be strengthened, and discuss how resilience planning should evolve as weather events become more frequent and complex. The insights gathered will help inform our future resilience planning and ED3 priorities.

The session will provide an opportunity to:

  • Share your experiences of responding to or supporting communities during severe storms and prolonged power cuts.
  • Discuss current strengths, challenges and gaps in resilience arrangements.
  • Explore how SSEN and its partners can better support customers and communities during storm events.
  • Help identify priorities for the next 5 years and influence future resilience planning for ED3.

To help make the discussion as productive as possible, we would be grateful if you could spend a few minutes reflecting on the following questions before the session:

  • Current Experience: What is working well today?
  • Challenges: What are the biggest gaps and concerns?
  • Improvements: What could we do to better support customers and communities during storms?
  • Future Priorities: What should stakeholders focus on over the next 5 years?

We hope you can join us and contribute to this important discussion. We look forward to hearing your perspectives and working together to help strengthen resilience for the communities we serve.
