Faster connections. Smarter decisions. Better use of capacity.

With growing demand for electricity connections, networks need new ways to understand capacity, plan effectively, and connect customers faster. Join our Show & Tell webinar to explore how SSEN is tackling this challenge through two innovation projects transforming network planning:

3DAR (Dynamic, Data-Driven Asset Rating)
3DAR is unlocking hidden capacity across the network by using weather and asset data to identify where Dynamic Rating can be applied. This enables overhead lines to safely operate closer to their true limits—without the need for costly reinforcement.

During Alpha, the project has:

  • Validated use cases with planners
  • Analysed real circuit data to develop scoring and ranking approaches
  • Created early solution mock-ups to show how DR can be embedded directly into planning and investment decisions at scale

FastTrack
FastTrack is an AI-driven tool designed to help DNOS better understand and manage the connections queue—one of the biggest challenges facing electricity networks today. By moving beyond conservative worst-case assumptions, FastTrack shows what is most likely to connect, where real headroom exists, and what risks are involved. This supports earlier, risk-managed connections, better use of existing capacity, clearer evidence for decisions.

During Alpha, the project has:

  • Developed forecasting models to predict future network demand and connection outcomes
  • Built probabilistic tools to assess how projects progress through the connections pipeline
  • Delivered interactive wireframes and a demo tool to support decision-making
  • Tested outputs with planners and stakeholders to ensure real-world usability

Show and Tell webinar will:

  • Give you a first look at what both projects have delivered in Alpha
  • Insight into how these tools could support faster, more informed decision-making
  • A preview of what’s next as they move towards deployment

If you’re interested in accelerating connections, improving planning certainty, or making better use of existing network capacity, this session is for you.
