Event Feedback

We are pleased to share the presentation material from our Community Energy Flexibility webinar. The recording will be available until January 2027.

Due to the volume of engagement during the webinar we have also shared answers to the questions we were unable to get to during the webinar itself.

Our Flexibility team at Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN) are hosting a webinar to highlight the potential opportunities flexibility services can offer, specifically for community energy organisations who are at different stages of the journey; operating, developing or considering flexibility schemes.

Energy flexibility is the ability to modify your energy consumption or generation patterns to respond to grid constraints or system balancing needs. As a distribution system operator, we at SSEN pay organisations who own or operate energy assets, to provide flexibility as a service. This helps us manage local distribution network constraints. Flexibility services can therefore benefit the local community by freeing up more network capacity in your area, and also provide an additional source of revenue for energy projects.

The webinar will focus on the following areas:

  • How flexibility works
  • Why community energy is important for flexibility and how communities can benefit
  • How to participate in flexibility services
  • How we decide where to use flexibility services
  • How to find out more about our long-term flexibility plans

The webinar is suitable for anyone who is involved with a community energy project or is interested in finding out about flexibility services but isn’t quite sure where to start.
