Fortress - Flexibility and Resilience

Supporting protected sites’ transition to electrified heating presents a significant challenge for Distribution Network Operators (DNOs). It requires delivering additional capacity while maintaining resilience—often involving major infrastructure investment.

The FORTRESS project explores how a coordinated, flexible approach to heat demand can help offset some of these costs. Our first use case focused on NHS Tayside’s Ninewells Hospital, examining the balance between flexibility and resilience in critical infrastructure.
